Idean tähän mixtapeen saimme joulukuussa, jolloin aurinko paistoi Helsingissäkin vain hädin tuskin 10 tuntia koko kuussa. Tämä mixtape on pakomatka pimeästä talvesta tropiikkiin, eksoottisiin kaupunkeihin ja unelmien hiekkarannoille.
We live in the Northern Hemisphere, in Helsinki. In the winter, sunshine is a rare sight: during the darkest month, December, the Sun shines hardly 10 hours throughout the month. This mixtape is a comforting journey from the dark winter of Finland to the tropic, exotic cities and the sandy beaches of dreams.

L: ”Siebe Baarda matkusti 80-luvun alussa Kaakkois-Aasiaan, vaikuttui sikäläisestä menosta ja julkaisi kolme kasettia vuosina 1981-85. Trooppista, elektronista, new age/ambient -osastoa.”

Satori on japanilaisessa zenbuddhalaisuudessa tavoiteltu valaistumisen tila. Myös maallikot voivat saavuttaa tilan aivan tavanomaisin keinoin. Reitti satoriin voi löytyä niin japanilaisella jousiammunnalla kuin judollakin – ehkä myös kuuntelemalla viikko sitten ilmestyneen Psychic Lemonin albumin Frequency Rhythm Distortion Delay.
Englantilaisbändin debyytti Psychic Lemon sai viime vuonna kehuja, ja kakkoslevyn vastaanotto on ollut suorastaan yliampuva: jotkut ovat jo veikkailleet sitä vuoden tärkeimpien levyjen joukkoon, vaikka vuotta on kulunut vasta muutama viikko. Nopeatempoiseen, junnaavaan ja säröiseen äänimaisemaan uppoutuu nopeasti, kunnes levyn vikassa biisissä havahtuu. Ensikuunteluilla vahvimpia raitoja ovatkin juuri letkeä viimeinen biisi Satori Disko ja nyrkkiä kohti kattoa kutsuva Hey Droog!.
Satori saavutettu? Kenties. Valaistumisen vain valaistunut mestari voi tunnistaa.
The new Psychic Lemon album Frequency Rhythm Distortion Delay has got great, almost exaggerated reviews, some lifting it already to this year’s one of the essential albums. Fuzzy uptempo loops are catchy and make it easy to fall into the music. The awakening from trance comes in the last track Satori Disko which is more laid-back than the other four in the album. Satori Disko with the second tune Hey Droog! are the strongest ones in Frequency Rhythm Distortion Delay after few listening times.
